The "Federal Rules of Civil Procedure" are
where the rules & regulations of process serving can be found.
Remember to check with your state's rules as
well (if any) & to always double-check information in case it
is incomplete or needs to be updated. These tips are not intended
to be legal advice but merely informational suggestions.
Other Helpful Tips:
Bring a watch or a clock, so you can note the
time of service. Make sure to ask for the name of the person
you serve (if unacquainted). Put the documents to be served
in a sealed envelope. Type the party's name on the outside of
the envelope. Bring tape with you in case you need to "post"
the envelope on a door. Be sure to have the server fill out
a "Proof of Service" of "Affidavit of Service." Finally, be
safe!
